Portable Toilet Maintenance Tips for a Cleaner Rental
How servicing works, what professional crews do, and how to keep units fresh between visits.
How Pros Keep Portable Toilets Fresh
A clean portable toilet starts with the rental company's process β but small things you do on-site matter, too. Here's how the pros do it.
What Happens at Every Service Visit
Our service trucks carry vacuum tanks, fresh-water tanks, and a kit of restocking supplies. At each weekly visit, our driver:
- Pumps the holding tank completely
- Adds fresh water and a measured dose of deodorizer
- Pressure-rinses the floor, walls, and seat
- Restocks toilet paper and hand sanitizer
- Wipes down door handle and high-touch surfaces
- Inspects the unit for damage and reports back
What You Can Do Between Visits
- Place the unit on level ground in a shaded area when possible
- Keep doors closed when not in use
- Don't toss trash, food, or non-flushables into the tank
- Report damage or low supplies right away β we'll come out
Cold-Weather Care
In sub-zero temps, leave the door slightly cracked when not in use to prevent moisture buildup, and ask us about cold-weather blue. We can also swap to a heated trailer when the cold becomes punishing.
Hot-Weather Care
Move units to shade if you can. Schedule extra service visits in July and August.
When to Call for Extra Service
Heavy use, an event, or unexpected odor are all good reasons to schedule an extra service. There's no penalty for asking.
