The Event Planner's Restroom Guide
Everything event planners need to know about restroom planning, ADA, luxury trailers, and servicing.
The Event Planner's Restroom Guide
Restrooms aren't glamorous, but they're the single most-talked-about detail at a poorly-planned event. Get them right and no one notices. Get them wrong and they're all anyone remembers.
Quantity: How Many Do You Need?
Use this baseline for a 4-hour event with no alcohol:
- 50 guests β 1 unit
- 100 guests β 2 units
- 250 guests β 5 units
- 500 guests β 9 units (1 ADA)
- 1,000 guests β 18 units (2 ADA)
Add 15β20% if alcohol is served, and another 10% if the event runs longer than 4 hours.
Standard vs. Luxury Trailer
For weddings, corporate functions, galas, and milestone parties, a luxury restroom trailer is the upgrade your guests will remember. Climate control, real plumbing, lighting, mirrors β they don't feel "portable" at all. For festivals and casual events, well-serviced standard units are perfectly fine.
ADA Requirements
Public events should provide at least one ADA-compliant unit per cluster. Briony rents ADA units at the same rate as standard units.
Handwashing
Add at least one handwash station per 4 toilets β more if food is served. Hand sanitizer dispensers are a great supplement, not a substitute.
Placement, Lighting, and Service
Cluster units in 2β3 zones. Light them at night. For multi-day events, schedule mid-event service so they stay fresh. We handle all of this β just tell us when.
